The Pony Pals Programme at Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary offers a range of engaging, hands-on experiences tailored for children and youth groups. This program is designed to nurture empathy, responsibility, and confidence through meaningful interactions with our ponies. Each session provides a structured, supportive environment where children can learn about pony care, handling, and companionship, while also enjoying fun and educational activities.
Pony Pals allows children to connect with ponies in a way that promotes empathy and understanding of animal care. From grooming and feeding to learning about equine behavior, children develop a sense of responsibility and gain practical skills while enjoying the gentle companionship of our ponies. Activities are tailored to be age-appropriate, encouraging personal growth and self-confidence as participants engage in both individual tasks and teamwork.
Activities Include:
Basic Grooming & Pony Care: Children learn how to groom and care for the ponies, understanding the importance of consistent, gentle handling.
Equine Education Workshops: Fun, interactive sessions that introduce participants to topics like horse anatomy, communication, and wellness.
Lead Training & Gentle Handling: Kids practice leading ponies, helping them develop confidence and coordination.
Seasonal & Themed Events: Holiday-themed activities and seasonal events add extra excitement and variety, such as Pony Pals Christmas Party or Easter Egg Hunt with ponies.
Empathy & Responsibility: Foster a sense of responsibility in caring for animals and empathy through gentle interaction.
Confidence Building: Encourage personal growth and self-confidence through handling and caring for ponies.
Educational Engagement: Provide age-appropriate learning experiences to help children understand and appreciate animal welfare.
Each Pony Pals session lasts approximately 2 hours, providing ample time for children to engage with the ponies, participate in activities, and gain meaningful animal care skills.
Pony Pals Saturday Club: Select Saturdays throughout the year.
Seasonal Camps and Events: Run during school holidays, offering special themed activities and camps.
Pony Pals Summer Scheme Sessions: £25 per session – seasonal scheme offering fun, educational pony experiences.
Pony Pals Workshops: £25 per child – engaging sessions that focus on specific aspects of pony care and handling.
Pony Pals Ridden Camp: £40 per child – combines riding basics with pony care in a structured camp setting.
Pony Pals Saturday Club: £18 per child – regular Saturday meet-ups where children can enjoy bonding and learning with ponies.
