Calling All Young Equine Enthusiasts!

Looking for a summer adventure filled with learning, laughter, and hoofed friends? Join us at Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary for our Pony Pals Summer Scheme 2024! Designed for Junior Group (ages 5-8) and Senior Group (ages 9-12), our program promises exciting activities, educational experiences, and unforgettable memories with our beloved equines (horses, ponies, and donkeys).

About the Summer Scheme:

🐴 Junior Group (Ages 5-8):Our Junior sessions offer young equine lovers a hands-on introduction to equine care and welfare. From grooming adorable creatures to engaging in interactive games, your child will embark on a journey of discovery and compassion in a safe and nurturing environment.

🐎 Senior Group (Ages 9-12):Senior sessions provide older children with immersive experiences in equine care and responsibility. With a focus on hands-on activities and engaging learning opportunities, participants will develop valuable skills while fostering empathy and respect for equines.

What's Included:

  • Engaging Educational Activities
  • Hands-On Equine Care
  • Interactive Games
  • Fun and Creative Arts & Crafts
  • Picnic Lunch: Each session will either end or start with a 'picnic' lunch in one of our garden spaces or in the barn. This will include a soft drink or water and a packet of sweets/crisps from the sanctuary. Please bring a packed lunch.
  • Safety Debrief: Prior to activities, we conduct a comprehensive safety debrief to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all participants.
  • Hat Fitting: Safety is our top priority! Each session includes a hat fitting to ensure proper head protection while engaging in equine activities.

Session Details:

  • Dates: Wednesdays, July 17th, 24th, 31st | August 7th, 14th, 21st
  • Junior Group Time: 10:30am - 12:30pm
  • Senior Group Time: 12:00pm - 3:00pm

All proceeds from the Summer Scheme go towards the care and training of the horses, ponies, and donkeys on our site. Your participation directly contributes to their well-being and happiness!

Pricing:

  • Cost: £25 per child per session
  • Discounts: 10% off for booking all sessions in advance or for siblings.
  • Total for all 6 sessions: £135 
  • Deposit: £20 at the time of booking; full payment required one week before the start of the summer Scheme.

Additional Information:

  • The Summer Scheme is drop-off only. Parents do not need to stay for the duration of the session.
  • Too young or too old to attend? Get in touch! We have many other activities planned and need you!
  • The money from bookings supports the sanctuary's daily running costs, caring for the horses and ponies, as well as essentials including insurance, PPE, and equipment.
  • We are fortunate to have trained individuals volunteering their time, maximizing the funds directed to animal care.

Unique Learning Experience:

Each week will offer a slightly different structure and content as part of our Intro to Equines course. This design allows participants to jump in and out without getting lost, making it perfect for both consistent and occasional attendees.
