Crosskennan is taking part in the BigGive Christmas Fundraising Challenge from 3rd - 10th December 2024.
This is to raise funds to continue providing and expand our much needed Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) activities, working with a range of people with disabilities, mental health issues, the elderly etc. This encompasses all our activities involving animals including our equine sensory sessions, coffee and cats and group work.
BigGive offers the opportunity for supporters to DOUBLE their donations via match funding which would make a big difference!
Situation
Mental health issues and loneliness have become a prevalent issue in Northern Ireland. A recent study found that one in five people in NI reported feeling lonely always or often. There is a clear need for more opportunities to be put in place for people to connect.
AAT has been proven to enhance mood, increase a sense of wellbeing and it provides an opportunity to build connections with both animals and people, thereby helping tackle these issues. Crosskennan needs more funds for the associated costs of providing its AAT programme and to grow this. This has the potential to make a huge difference in the community by providing regular opportunities for people to connect thereby helping improve mental health and decrease loneliness.
BigGive Campaign - Key info:
Donations will be matched through pledges first, then from BigGive champion funders after (if awarded)
Crosskennan needs to raise at least £2,000 in pledges (from people or businesses) to be eligible to get the equivalent in match funding from BigGive.
It is a great opportunity to raise much needed funds for the sanctuary that is struggling financially due to a significant drop in donations and rises in costs. The campaign would fund costs associated with running the AAT activities including running costs of the sanctuary in order to provide this.
